Individuals with pre-diabetes, type-1 diabetes, type-2 diabetes, and type-3 diabetes all must concern themselves with the prospects of the individual’s pancreas not functioning as it would under normal conditions. The islets are so fragile that transplantation must happen immediately after removal. The entire process takes less than two hours to perform through a catheter inserted in the upper abdomen and into the liver of the individual. Donor islets sent through the catheter into the individual’s liver.

Entire surgical experience is taking place while the individual is under a local anesthetic or the medical surgeon may us a general anesthetic if it proves more beneficial to the individual. It will take time for the donor islet cells to attach to newly introduced blood vessels, but when they do attach they will begin releasing insulin into the individual’s internal system. The lifelong need for insulin injections will cease and life for the individual will increasingly improve.

Collection of donor cells may take the medical community time to put into place and have it activated, but given enough time all things are possible. The point is that there is a renewed hope in locating a cure for diabetes and therefore offering individuals inflicted with diabetes hope for a final cure. Individuals who have insulin dependent diabetes can begin to breathe a little easier with this new progression in the in depth study of diabetes.

Obviously it will be years down the road before any of the research and studies return with a proof positive case, but perhaps these specialists are finally traveling down a new road.
