There is approximately 5 liters of blood in an adult human body. Within these 5 liters, there is a certain amount of sugar, which will affect our bodies, when it comes to energy levels. The human body needs only about a teaspoon of sugar mixed in the blood, to give you a full days worth of energy. If you consume more then a teaspoon of sugar a day, on a regular basis, your blood circulation will eventually slow down. The sugar clogs up the blood vessels, which in turn causes all sorts of issues. This is basically what diabetes is and a main cause.
Insulin is a hormone that is released into your blood stream to ward of excess sugar. The insulin will attempt to keep the blood sugar at a bout a teaspoon and keep the body from getting diabetic symptoms. Eating Things such as cookies, chocolate, or any other sugary products, or starchy vegetables like potatoes, will release large amounts of sugar in your blood. The insulin in your body will attempt to absorb the excess sugar, like a sponge, to get the level of sugar done, so it can be used as fuel. Any excess sugar is converted into fat cells, and the person gains weight.
If you normally eat a lot of sugar or carbohydrates you body will release large amounts of insulin to deal with the excess sugar. Over time, your body will lose a lot of its sensitivity to insulin, which will cause excess sugar to float in your blood stream, and cause many health issues including diabetic symptoms. Many health issues can come form this happening besides diabetes.
A person who has too much sugar in their blood stream most likely has too much insulin in their blood too. Having too much insulin in your blood is not good either. This could happen if your body has lost some sensitivity to insulin. The loss of sensitivity to insulin may result in a release of more insulin to attempt to stimulate the cells to absorb more sugar. Since there are low levels of sugar, that results in an excess of insulin in the blood stream This occurs more often in overweight people., but not in all cases.
Blood sugar and insulin go hand in hand. Because insulin controls the level of sugar in the blood, any insulin increases, or decreases, have a major affect on the blood sugar level in the body. Without insulin, cells can only get energy from fat, which causes many health issues. Insulin is produced in the pancreas. When a person’s blood sugar level increases, more insulin is released. When the blood sugar drops, less insulin is produced. Insulin and blood sugar levels not only affect energy, it also will affect organs of the body. The main organ targeted is the liver. The liver is where sugar is broken down, and converted. High insulin levels or high sugar levels directly affect the liver and its function. The liver is not the only organ that’s affected. All organs need insulin, so in a way all organs are targets of the blood sugar levels, and insulin amounts. A balanced diet is the key method to control blood sugar, and insulin levels. Since blood sugar and insulin levels affect so many organs of the body, a balanced diet and a low amount of sugar intake is essential for good health.
