What are the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes just that type 1 is more severe than type2?

Type 1 diabetes is a disease when the body cannot create insulin which moves sugar to body cells to be stored as energy. There is no certain cause of diabetes type 1 but it is thought it can be caused by a virus or auto immune disorder where the body fails to recognize one of it’s own organs and proceeds to attack and destroy it. Type 2 on the other hand has always been considered and adult diabetes and normally associated with people over 40. It must be noted however that more and more children have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in recent years.

How a patient is treated with type 1 and type 2 diabetes is also a major difference between the two diseases. Type 1 diabetes must always be treated with insulin, often delivered several times a day using either syringe, injector pens or an insulin pump. Type 2 is treated with medications, change of life style (diet and exercise) and sometimes small doses may end up being used in the treatment.
