What is Type 1 Diabetes?

This is often referred to as Juvenile diabetes. That is because it is normally diagnosed when the person is a child and that individual ends up chronically dependent on the need for insulin support. Type 1 diabetes is not something that can be cured. It will require the need for the same types of insulin help as any diabetic. This can require shots at times. Which may be something that can be hard on a child should he or she have a fear of needles. It might require some assistance from the doctor to help with getting a child to be able to cope with this realty. But with the right care and encouragement the child can be able to adjust to this very important change in his or her life. This will depend on the approach of the parent. While there is no way to cure this disease with the right care and treatment a child can expect to live and long and healthy life. There is no reason that with proper help the child needs to feel handicapped. He or she should find acceptance from family and be able to know what limitations that might be involved with their situation. However it doesn’t mean that the person is bedridden or unable to do so many things any other child can do. Taking time to explain the facts will help with that problem. And also making sure one let the child feel encouraged to look at the future with a sense of hope. That bright outlook will go a long way to making this transition more relaxed.
