Celiac Disease

This is a specific type of disease often suffered by those with Type 1 diabetes. It is one that affects the autoimmune system. The result will be problems with the digestive system. And the disease, which is also called, Celiac Spruce, affects the body’s ability to absorb nutrients from foods containing gluten. This is protein that is found in different types of wheat products. These will include such foods as barley, rye and some forms of pasta. Thus the person can become deficient in the nutrients that come from such foods. This might involve calcium, vitamins of varied types and also iron. It is a condition that is often one that runs in certain families. And since it is a digestive disorder it will normally impact such areas as bowel movements either with diarrhea or constipation, cause abdominal pains that can end up very severe at times as well as either weight loss or gas problems. Then to use substitutes so the body still gets the necessary nutrients. After a change of diet the person can then be able to tell how the body is affected by the change. If there are no more symptoms then it will most likely be a good option to make this a permanent change. That can be easy to apply with the right substitutes in gluten free foods. The doctor can be helpful in explaining, which foods will be a good substitute. He can also answer any questions one might have about this change. Or he might be able to direct one to a dietician who has more information.

While one may be the type who is very accustom to eating large amounts of gluten products, at least with this disease the treatment is not so radical. One can live without such foods. There are quite a few options that can be used in replace of the gluten options. They will provide all the usual nutrients that are needed and in the same degree of benefit. So the person does not have to worry about this causing any special problems by making a change. The only thing that will happen is that the symptoms that did exist from using the gluten products will stop. The discomfort and pain is something that the person will definitely will want to stop whenever possible. It is at least good to know such problems are easily treated without major consequences.
